Handwoven baskets and planters from reclaimed PVC pipes and ilala palm, in Pretoria

Every PVC basket and planter is woven by hand from reclaimed water pipes collected from landfills and construction sites in Africa, so no two are exactly alike. Sisters Mo and Michelle Mokone started it as a market side-hustle and run it from Pretoria.
Got so many lovely baskets 3 years ago. They are STILL in perfect condition. Lovely handmade, beautiful natural colours, goes well with the existing decor in my house. Highly recommended investing in their pieces. Great service delivery for out corporate gifts too!
Had such a lovely time at Mo’s Crib! What an awesome experience. The craftsmanship was incredible. Beautifully setup and lovely to grab a coffee while we shopped. Special shout out to the awesome Nompie who helped us as our cashier! :) can’t wait to be back next time!
Amazing staff! I attended the sale in Sandton today and both Didi and Cobby helped me. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the products. If they didn’t have an answer they knew where to get it.
The sale was awesome! Didnt do anything for my basket addiction that now requires therapy! Thank you Senzo & Nompi for such lovely colourful african creations and your assistance! Missing a cane utility that sold out too fast! Pls Mo...do a girl a favour...
Mo Mokone and Michelle Mokone

Mo Mokone and Michelle Mokone are sisters, born and raised in South Africa. They started Mo's Crib as an artistic side-hustle at a local market, and it grew into a business that supplies homeware and décor to department stores around the world.
From the start their aim was to make a difference in the communities and families they come from, right here in Africa, while raising environmental awareness through sustainable products. Michelle says traceability matters to them: customers should be able to see what their pieces are made from and how, and the business should be held to its own ethics and values.
Creating jobs in their own communities is the other half of the work, along with keeping old skills alive.
Mo's Crib
Mo's Crib is a home décor design company in Pretoria that makes handmade homeware from sustainable materials. The range covers baskets, planters, storage, furniture and handwoven handbags.
The PVC collection is made from reclaimed PVC water pipes, each one handpicked from landfills and construction sites in Africa and woven by hand into baskets and planters. The Karula grass collection uses the natural fibre of ilala palm leaves from fields in Africa. Because every piece is woven by hand, no two are exactly the same.
The "handmade in South Africa" principle is how the team preserves skills, creates jobs and keeps its carbon footprint down. Mo's Crib is mainly a bulk manufacturer that supplies retailers around the world, and a few times a year the factory opens to the public for Factory Sales. Architects, interior designers, boutique owners, and lodge and hotel owners can apply to its Designer Trade Program.
