Fashion concept store and own label with 50+ African designers, Kloof Street, Cape Town

Keith Henning and Claudia Selzer run their own fashion label, a designer shop and a café bar under one roof on Kloof Street, and the shop window is rebuilt around a different designer every four to six weeks. The shelves carry more than 50 designers, makers and publishers from across Africa, so every visit shows you something new.
Such a gorgeous shop! Incredibly unique brands and inventory, all merchandised in an interesting way. The accessory section is top tier.
Absolutely loved this place! The store has such a beautiful vibe, and the drinks are delicious! Plus, they have an amazing selection of local designer clothing. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. Definitely a must-visit spot!
I love AKJP. It's a unique space in Cape Town that offers local designers a platform to share their work. They put lots of effort into how they curate the shop. The window display always has something interesting to look at.
I am in love with this place. They have very interesting collection for both clothes and accessories.
Keith Henning
Keith Henning is a fashion designer. His menswear label, Adriaan Kuiters, is where the story starts. He teamed up with Cape Town artist Jody Paulsen, and together they opened the AKJP Collective at 73 Kloof Street in October 2015. Other South African designers joined over the following years and the shop grew into AKJP Studio. Keith's own work has widened from clothes into fine art, sculpture and ceramics, and his ceramic crockery is used in the studio's café bar.
Claudia Selzer joined while she was still a student, starting on the shop floor. With a background in graphic design, photography and motion graphics, she moved into the creative side of the business. Today she is co-owner and CEO, and she looks after the website, the photography, the staff and the mentorship of young designers.
AKJP Studio
AKJP Studio is a fashion concept store at 73 Kloof Street in Cape Town, with its own label, AKJP, at the centre. The label makes jackets, trousers, shirts and denim.
Around it sit more than 50 designers, makers and publishers from across Africa: fashion, jewellery, bags and accessories, ceramics and homeware, art, candles, beauty, fragrance and magazines and books. Gift vouchers are available too.
The shop window is rebuilt every four to six weeks around a new collection or designer, and the studio has an events space for the community. Young designers can also get mentorship and help with brand development.
AKJP Bar serves coffee, bagels and drinks made with South African suppliers, including Father Coffee and New York Bagels, on ceramic crockery by Keith Henning.
The online shop sends parcels by courier across South Africa and to addresses worldwide. In Cape Town, the studio is open Monday to Saturday.
